Hollyhock (Alcea rosea) is a very tall, upright biennial grown for its spectacular blooms. Many selections are available in all colors except blue. These make excellent choices for a tall border or against a wall or fence where they bloom all summer. They will survive in rocky, dry wastelands or grassy areas. Hollyhocks attract bees and are a host plant for the Painted Lady Butterfly.
