Calla Lilies for Descanso Gardens

Calla Lily (Zantedeschia) is an aquatic perennial. It grows from rhizomes, which expand into shallow ponds, swampy or mud areas. It can also be grown in garden areas that are kept quite wet or in containers. There are shades of red, maroon and yellow in addition to the basic white. The variety called 'Green Goddess' is an interesting one. It has white blooms with loosely ruffled edges and is streaked with light green. Calla may cause skin allergies.
